Clapton Library
The Clapton Library renovation project has transformed a classical 1914 Grade II listed building into an exciting new space for the digital age. While retaining and uncovering its original features, the refurbished library provides more space, improved disabled access, new areas for private study and young people, meeting facilities for community use and quiet reading areas. The original void between ground and first floor reading rooms, filled in during the 1970s, has been re-opened with a new structural glass floor, and the design also incorporates rainwater harvesting, solar powered water heating and ventilation, and energy efficient lighting and heating systems.
